Andrew practices informed consent, patient-centered, anti-racist, radical welcome, holistic, and integrative psychiatry.
Andrew (Andy) C. Sackett-Taylor, MSN, APRN (he/him/his) is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Transhealth, where he provides care to patients across the lifespan. He practices patient-centered, informed-consent-based care, believes in the value of anti-racism and radical welcome within health care, and as a queer-identified trans man, he considers joining Transhealth to be one of the many blessings of his life. His passion for serving LGBTQ+ individuals within a clinical capacity is followed closely by his desire to mentor and teach future generations of health care providers about the nuanced needs of the community. He believes that trans and queer representation in health care ultimately moves the mission of justice further. He has a particular fondness for working with families, and he is well-versed in the treatment interventions for depression, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD, schizophrenia, trauma-related disorders, and dissociative identity disorder. He hopes to expand his knowledge of integrative psychiatry and the connection between mind and body, and to continue growing as a holistic provider. In addition to his work with Transhealth, he spends time every summer as “Nurse Andy” at a sleep-away summer camp for trans and gender-diverse children and adolescents.
Outside of his professional life, he has a robust set of self-care practices and enjoys a variety of hobbies, including spending time with family and friends, getting creative in his at-home art studio, having year-round outdoor adventures, playing board games, practicing yoga/meditation, expanding his tattoo collection, tending to his garden, and being kind to strangers. He is beginning his practice of Buddhism, and he utilizes mindfulness to find joy in the myriad details of life. He is also continuing to learn Spanish for both personal and professional development, and he enjoys an eclectic mix of music, including Brandi Carlile, Chance the Rapper, and CHVRCHES. He lives in Western Massachusetts with his wife and their menagerie of animals—Birdie (Chihuahua-Golden Retriever), Raisin (Flat-Coated Retriever-Border Collie), Grover (Maine Coon), and Gatsby (Piebald/Tuxedo)—and hopes to soon add the title of “Dad” to his list of identities. He chooses kindness and compassion every day and hopes to remain young at heart for the rest of his life.
