Mia Lauer (she/her) is the Community Engagement Specialist at Transhealth Northampton. While studying Sociology at the University of North Carolina Asheville, Mia worked professionally in Asheville’s Arts and Music scene, and spent her time involved in community activism and organizing. While working as a Queer Youth Educator with transgender and gender diverse kids, Mia developed a passion around building community resources and support for trans individuals. In 2019, Mia moved to Western Massachusetts to pursue a Master’s in Labor Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During this time she worked for the AFL-CIO of Massachusetts and the United Food and Commercial Workers advocating and organizing around issues of economic justice. Mia is thrilled to have the opportunity to help build and foster community for trans and queer folks in Western Mass. In her free time, she enjoys writing and recording music, cooking, and spending time with her dog.
